Get the "Fun" Back in Exercise and Weight Loss: No More Fad Diets

11 November, 2021
In this article, we will talk about how to get the fun back into your exercise and weight loss routine. We know that it can be hard when people are constantly talking about new fad diets and fitness trends. But what happens when you can't keep up with it? You become frustrated and give up on your goals altogether! That's why we threw together some ideas to put the fun back into exercise and losing weight so you can stay motivated as well as healthy. Staying motivated is one of the keys to success, but it doesn't have to be hard! With these simple tips, you'll never get bored again and will stay on track with your goals!
Exercise with a friend or join a group
It's never more fun to exercise by yourself, so why not make it social? You'll feel better about going and will be excited for the next time you get to see your friends! When you work out with a friend, the efficiency goes through the roof. Working out together forces strength-building exercises to get done faster, and one person does things that the other doesn't want to do. For example, someone can be doing a one minute plank while another focuses on jumping jacks or a 3 minute jog while the other does burpees for 30 seconds. After going back and forth until both have completed your reps for each exercise type, you'll have gone through 10 minutes of strenuous cardio within 20 minutes even though it may seem like they've only been working out for 5 minutes total! Plus, you'll have somebody to talk to during the whole time which will make it feel less tedious. And if you're not feeling too social at that moment, maybe they are and you won't even notice!
Who knows…you might even find some new buddies along the way if you're willing to put yourself out there. And if you don't want to join a group, at least make exercise fun by turning it into a game or setting some goals together with your friend!
Try new activities
It's easy for things to get boring when we do the same type of exercise all the time. So why not switch up  your routine and try something new? Not only will it help you stay interested in working out but you'll also get more benefits from your workout when doing a different activity. For example, if you usually run on the treadmill or elliptical try switching things up with an exercise class like Zumba or yoga. It's even better if the activities are ones you can do together with a friend!
Walking with a friend is great because you can talk and enjoy the time side by side. Depending on how far apart your home and destination are, walking can be a great and inexpensive way to get fit. Even if you live near each other, it’s good to make an ongoing commitment to walk together every day. Why not head over to the local park while you're at it. Toss a frisbee back and forth while running up some hills. Plus, the more you walk and get active with someone else, the more likely that person will join in on some of those healthier behaviors too!

Increase energy levels and reduce fatigue

Exercise doesn't just help you lose weight, it also helps increase your muscle mass. This in turn can improve your ability to play with kids or grandkids so that they don't tire out too quickly! Exercise also increases the amount of oxygen flowing through our body which makes us feel more energised throughout the day. It helps to boost our metabolic rate, making it easier to maintain a healthy weight when eating sensibly. This is because being active increases the number of energy-burning cells in our body called mitochondria which are found in larger numbers if we have higher levels of muscle mass.

Reducing cellulite

Perhaps one of your motivations to get fit is to get rid of that annoying cellulite. Cellulite are just fat cells that are closer to the skin's surface than other fat cells, which is why they appear lumpy. Because of the varied fat, muscle, and connective tissue distribution among men and women, cellulite affects women more than it does men. Not to worry though! So long as you're eating healthy and exercising, your body should produce enough adipose tissue so that cellulite won't be visible. Choose an exercise routine that mixes cardio and strength training. This will help you lose body fat, tone and define your muscles, as well as reduce cellulite. Your physique will appear smoother and firmer if it is more muscular.

Strengthen core stability muscles

There are a host of different exercises for core stability, and while some work better than others, the key is coming up with a good routine and doing it regularly. The best approach involves an assortment of sets and repetitions that change according to your fitness level.

My favourite exercise is the plank. It's easy to do, doesn't require any equipment, builds core strength efficiently and effectively in both men and women.

Put yourself into position on your hands and toes with your back straight like you're about to begin a pushup. Make sure your legs are shoulder-length apart and hold this position for at least 30 seconds, with the goal of reaching 60 seconds or even longer over time.

The plank is easy to do anywhere you can find floor space in your home or office -- just make sure there's enough room between pieces of furniture to allow you to get into the right position.

There are many variations of planks, some more difficult than others, but this is my favourite because it's not only easy to do and doesn't require any equipment or gym membership; It also builds core strength efficiently by engaging your abs, back muscles and even your glutes (butt).
